Steel

Overview

JISPL is in the elite group of primary steel producers with a world class integrated steel plant at Raigarh that has a production capacity of 1.5 MTPA to produce HR plates, rebars and structure profiles to cater to the rapidly growing infrastructure & construction industry.

Technology

  • The technology adopted for this integrated steel plant would considerably reduce its dependency on raw materials like coking coal and iron ore lumps and would use raw material from domestic and international resources, resulting in becoming one of the most competitive and cost effective steel making facility in the country.
  • Raw material risk arrangement in terms of pricing volatility is mitigated through captive availability of power, ferro alloys & iron ore.
  • The steel facility is designed to utilize all waste heat and gasses generated in the process, thereby making it a truly energy efficient steel complex.
  • Further setting up of iron ore palletization plant along with the sinter plant as a part of the complex, would enable JISPL to use gainfully cheap and abundantly available iron ore fines.
  • Conventionally the primary integrated steel plants in India were based on Blast Furnace route requiring expensive imported coking coal/coal resulting in increased costs. To address this concern JISPL'S technology involving a mix of sponge iron and hot metal from Blast furnace would not only reduce costs but would also enable the company to produce high value added steel through electric arc furnace.
